Transcripts of testimonies given by individuals familiar with Black Panther Party activates, exhibits presented to the committee, and photographs are included.

Promotional book published by the The Fletcher Cowherd Company to advertise new homes built by the firm in the Morningside neighborhood. Several photos and drawings of houses with ownership, address and architect information are included. The book also includes several pages of advertisements for firms connected to the home construction industry.

Promotional catalog for the American Poultry School. The school offered correspondence courses designed to teach income earning from poultry raising. Contains many articles and descriptions of individuals employed by the school, current and former students, and its operations. Included with the booklet are several supplementary brochures and handouts. The school's office was located at 115 E. 31st Street in Kansas City. It's experimental farm was located on 63rd Street in Raytown, Missouri.

Promotional booklet for building family homes in 1920s luxury Kansas City suburban tract development now in the Santa Fe Hills neighborhood southeast of 85th Street and Wornall Road. It was to include rare amenities such as an open air theater, bell tower, pool, club house, and Dutch windmill. Built on property owned by Daniel Boone's son Nathan, and featuring the Boone school and home. Businessman developer Emory Sweeney founded an automobile school and WHB radio. Landscape architects Hare & Hare were to handle the project, and George Hamilton Stone was assigned as General Manager. Detailed plat map at center fold. The document claims that the neighborhood will, “exclude undesirable people from the standpoint of morals, character, and integrity.”

Program for the Second Annual Junior Governor's Cup Basketball Game held in Jefferson City, Missouri. The charity basketball game was played between members of the Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Cardinals (playing as the Big Red All-Stars) football teams. The booklet contains advertisements, team rosters, and autographs from Chiefs and Cardinals players.

Item includes sections covering the development of the city's business interests, a list of buildings constructed in 1878, its history, its geographic advantages, descriptions of various businesses and public institutions, descriptions of its suburbs, and advertisements.

A city directory cataloging Kansas City's Black business and citizen community for the years 1942-1943. The directory defines itself as the name, address, occupation, telephone (if any), property status, auto registration or ownership and family relationship of every Black citizen of high school age or older residing in the city; a complete list of local and state officials; a directory of Black churches, educational institutions, secret and benevolent societies, state institutions, and other organizations; a complete list of Black schools and school teachers; a complete classified business and professional index of Black ownership and management; a cross reference telephone directory of Black telephone subscribers.

Booklet published by the Kansas City Public Library summarizing the community, civil rights, and legal activism of Alvin Sykes. The text covers Sykes' early life and passion for self-education through public libraries. His involvement in the 1980 murder case of jazz musician Steve Harvey at the Liberty Memorial is highlighted. Sykes' pursuit of a federal civil rights violation case against Harvey's accused killer, Raymond Bledsoe, after he was declared not guilty by an all white jury in Jackson County court is covered. Sykes' civil rights and legal activism following Bledsoe's conviction in 1983, including his involvement with the reexamination of the 1955 murder of Emmett Till, is also covered. The booklet contains an introduction by former Kansas City Public Library executive director R. Crosby Kemper III and concludes with a note from Sykes discussing his life's work.

Report prepared by the Research Bureau of the Board of Public Welfare chronicling the description, demographics, industries, churches, schools, recreational activities, housing, social services available and other problems affecting seven Kansas City districts. The authors of the report pay special attention to the city's immigrant and African American communities. A broad general prospectus of the entire city is also provided. The report contains several photographs and maps provided to illustrate the nature and extant of social and health problems affecting Kansas Citians. The districts covered by the report are: the North West, the North Side, the West Side, the Swope Settlement, the Hospital, Penn Valley and the East Side.

The booklet contains photographs of civic and business leaders and statements from them congratulating the Chiefs on the team's achievement. Brief articles summarizing development projects going on in the city at that time are included. The booklet also contains several advertisements for Kansas City area businesses.
