Description
Article about "the Kansas City Unions, Kansas City's first professional sports team," one of the "34 so-called major league baseball franchises in America" in the 1880s besides the National League. Organized by "St. Louis millionaire Henry Lucas" and brought to Kansas City in 1884 by "Americus McKim, who had a malt and grain business in Kansas City," sometimes referred to as the Kansas City Cowboys with "lousy" play and "unruly" fans at their playing field, "Athletic Park at Southwest Boulevard and Summit" Street.
