Article explains the Kansas City ties of former New York Yankee's shortstop and announcer Phil Rizzuto, who died August 13, 2007. Rizzuto payed two seasons with the Kansas City Blues (1939, 1940) and in 1940 was the minor-league player of the year. He was friends with Sid Bordman, a Kansas City Star sports writer for 34 years who had been a bat boy here in the 1940 season.
