Biographical sketch of John Hurst Taylor Yost, or John Yost, "one of the best known of the old residents of Kansas City." Born in Indiana in 1833 and coming to Kansas City in 1872 as a Union Civil War veteran (and father of Charles Yost) and building contractor, erecting "the Savoy Hotel, the Jefferson and Karnes schools and the Cumberland Presbyterian church."
