Information about the duels in early Missouri history, mostly between 1817 and 1840. Of note are those that led to the deaths of local statesmen Charles Lucas (involved in the founding of Columbia, Missouri, and killed by Senator Thomas Hart Benton) and Major Taylor Berry (involved in the founding of Boonville, Missouri).
