Portrait and obituary for Dr. J. W. Parker, or John Parker (1822-1907), an early Westport physician and "one of the pioneer residents of Kansas City," dying at the age of 85 "at his home, 305 Union Avenue, Westport," on March 2, 1907. Native of Kentucky coming to Kansas City in 1853 as a doctor (sometimes known as James Parker) and settling in Westport with many Indians and others as patients in the area, sometimes using "sailing wagons" for transportation.
