Biographical sketch of John Barber White, or John White, "one of the conspicuous figures among the lumbermen of the west, being secretary and treasurer of the Missouri Land & Lumber Company." Born in New York in 1847 and moving to the Missouri Ozarks in 1879 as a timber land owner (with lumber mills at Mill Spring, Missouri and Grandin, Missouri in the 1880s) before coming to Kansas City as "a member of several historical and patriotic societies."
