Biographical sketch of Webster Withers, a deceased elevator executive of Kansas City. Born in Clay County, Missouri in 1837 and coming to Kansas City in 1865 as "assistant cashier of the Kansas City Savings Association at the corner of [3rd Street] and Delaware streets" before "join[ing] W. A. Vaughan and J. K. Davidson in the elevator business under the firm style of Vaughan & Company, theirs being the first real structure of its class built and successfully operated in the Missouri valley."
