Kansas health officials believe that Douglass Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas, may be in violation of the state's criminal abortion law because of its lack of accreditation. Physicians at the 50-bed facility performed over 2,000 abortions in the last year, said a State Board of Health spokesman. Kansas City Star, July 24, 1971.
