Biographical sketch of James Hewson (1841-1905), a business man and native of Canada coming to Kansas City in 1869. Description of his various businesses, starting "as a dry goods merchant" at 8th and Main Streets and then manufacturing baking powder at 3rd and Main Streets until "erect[ing] what will always be known as the Hewson building, a large office structure, at Nos. 1016 and 1018 Walnut street" as an insurance salesman, with residence at 2700 Independence Boulevard.
