Page 70: "Song writing is a natural outgrowth of the atmosphere of 12th Street. Although its immortality has been assured by the raucous "Rag" [the "12th Street Rag" by Euday Bowman], other composers have felt its influence, for on the street or not far distant were conceived such numbers as 'Oceana Roll Blues,' 'You're Just a Flower from an Old Bouquet' (Lucien Denni); 'Dill Pickle Rag', 'Sweet and Low', 'Crazy Bone Rag' (Charlie Johnson); 'Piccolo Pete' (Phil Baxter); and 'Melancholy Baby' (Ernie Burnett)."
