Portrait and biographical information about Marcus Gill (1814-1886), a miller, lumber baron, and boat builder who was born in Kentucky and moved to Kansas City around 1850. He left as a slaveholder during the Civil War and afterwards moved to Plattsburg, Missouri. He was the father of Judge Turner Gill. File also contains biographical information about Turner Gill (1841-1919), mayor of Kansas City and judge of the court of appeals. He was born in Kentucky and became a Confederate officer, dying in Los Angeles, California.
