Photos, illustrations, and biographical article about Dr. Edwin Heath, a Kansas City physician and explorer and mapper of a previously undiscovered South American River called the Beni in 1880, with the Heath River, part of the boundary between Bolivia and Peru. Description of his career, becoming a doctor in New York and coming to Wyandotte, Kansas, about 1863, before traveling to South America with Dr. J. P. Root, a Wyandotte resident and United States "minister to Chile" in the 1860s, returning afterwards to reside at 3343 Forest Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri.
