Biographical sketch of Emerson Monk, "formerly an active factor in Kansas City" as a carpenter and later "hardware and farm implement" merchant at 1613 Grand Avenue. Born in Canada in 1848 and emigrating to Kansas City in 1888 before leaving for Detroit around 1900, leaving his wife "resid[ing] with her daughter, Mrs. Gill [wife of George Walter Gill," "well known as proprietor of the Standard Wire & Iron Works at No. 407 Southwest boulevard"), at No. 2210 Troost avenue."
