The intersection at 12th and Walnut with horse and buggy traffic, two street cars and no automobiles is pictured on a post card mailed from Kansas City in 1910. The six-story Boley Building on the northwest corner has large Boley Clothing Company signs on both 12th and Walnut. The building was erected in 1908-09 for Charles N. Boley, and was designed by Louis S, Curtiss. Architects of today consider the building to be Curtiss' masterpiece. The structure was enclosed in flat panes of glass and steel and lacked the usual ornamentation of the day. The building is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Kansas City Times, September 4, 1981.
