Description
Photo and bio of Willis Prather, "a general contractor and builder." Born in Iowa in 1853 and serving the Union in the Civil War before coming to Kansas City in 1871 as a carpenter and later turning to steel construction. "He had the carpenter contract on the building of the first convention hall and has either built or reconstructed many of the business blocks of Kansas City" (page 295).
