Page 19: "Certainly David Waldo wsa a man who deserves to be remembered in the history books of the West. Like the Bent brothers, Kit Carson, and Ceran St. Vrain, he was one of the trail-blazers to Santa Fe. During the 1830s and 1840s no man enjoyed greater repute among traders making the 800-mile journey from Missouri to the Mexican city. Josiah Gregg consulted him when writing 'The Commerce on the Prairies' and knew the information could have no greater authenticity."
