Description
Article reports on efforts by City Council member Scott Wagner to save historic structures from demolition by amending the city's historic designation ordinance. With help from the Kansas City Historic Preservation office and Historic Kansas City Foundation, Wagner worked to get a new ordinance passed which suspends a demolition order for up to six months if an agency or neighborhood association files an application to designate a building historic. A few recently demolished buildings spotlighted in the article include "The Chateau" duplex (2116-2118 Minnie St.) and the Orion Pictures building (118 W. 17th Street).
