Two Worlds Embrace

Article describes the efforts of the Village Presbyterian Church in Prairie Village, Kansas to help the residents of the Ivanhoe Neighborhood of Kansas City improve their community. Residents and church volunteers have partnered for the last thirteen years in a project called the Front Porch Alliance, which coordinates projects such as trash cleanup, crime prevention, life-skills classes, tutoring, and other programs. Village Presbyterian donates $60,000 annually to the Front Porch Alliance and an additional $100,000 is provided by a private donor.
