Article about the mirgration of Delaware Indians across the Ozarks of southern Missouri to Kansas and William Gillis's connection to them starting as early as the late 1810s in western Illinois and the 1820s in Missouri. Many details of Gillis's life, here said to be born "about 1788," and early career in the Kansas City area, starting in the early 1830s, with maps, portrait, and illustrations, including the location of his 1850 mansion at 28th and Jarboe Streets in relation to Penn Valley Park and the state line.
