After five decades of service, the American Airlines overhaul facility located at Kansas City International Airport will shut down. Since acquiring TWA in 2001, American Airlines has slowly been decreasing its workforce. Two-hundred of the 400 union workers who were employed at the base will transfer to other bases and the rest are expected to retire.
