Information about Thomas Goforth (1804-1882), the first mayor of Westport upon its incorporation in 1857. He was born in Cincinnati and moved to Missouri in 1837, becoming a sign painter in Independence before coming to Westport around 1853 as a lawyer, residing next to the Boone's Trading Post, with photos and illustrations.
