Description
A small tax charged in area stores in Community Improvement Districts make possible things like "extra security, removal of trash and graffiti, pretty planters and park benches," as well as area awareness officers, known as Red Shirts. Among the some 30 community improvement districts are Brookside, Downtown, Main Street, Waldo, and 3-Trails Village. Different districts use the money for different projects. The sidebar article "Some Area CID Programs" highlights the above named districts and gives their boundaries, the budget, and lists the projects for each area.
