This is a three part article concerning the topic of politics in the state of Missouri leading up to the Civil War and just afterwards. The first article deals with party disruption occurring in the period before the Civil War and the part that the question of slavery played during this time. Also the part that Thomas Hart Benton had during this time period. The second article deals with "Missouri for the Union" and the third part concerns "Party Reorganization".
