Biographical sketch of Stephen Hayde, "president of the S. J. Hayde Contract Company," born in Iowa in 1861 and coming to Kansas City in 1880 with his father as a brick contractor. Description of his later career, serving "as a member of the board of public works," a "director in the Kansas City Karnival Krewe," and owner of his own construction business starting in 1890, erecting several local buildings and at least two in Kansas.

Hayde Contract Company: (1) the Model Building at 10th and Main Streets, (2) "the superstructure of the Federal building," (3) the Keith Furniture Company building at 11th and Grand Avenues, (4) the Loretto Academy at 39th and West Prospect Places, (5) the Savoy Hotel, (6) the Peck's Dry Goods Company building, and (7) "the Original Hotel Baltimore."
