Description
History of the military newspaper Stars and Stripes. The first issue was printed in November 1861 by Union forces that entered the abandoned offices of the Bloomfield Herald newspaper in Stoddard County. The four-page newspaper was hand delivered to Union troops in and around the town of Bloomfield. One of the known three existing copies is on display at the Stars and Stripes Museum Library, 17377 Stars and Stripes Way at Bloomfield.
