Description
Biographical sketch of Simeon Armour (1828-1899), or S. B. Armour, "banker and a man very prominently identified with the industrial interests of the west" as a Kansas City packer and banker. Description of his life and career as a native of New York coming to Kansas City in 1870 and forming a packing company (with his brother Philip Danforth Armour, or Philip Armour), their packing plant being at the time "the second largest in the world, exceeded only by the great Armour plant in Chicago." Joined in this business in 1878 by his brother Andrew Armour and elected in 1888 president of the Midland National Bank after the consolidation of the Armour Brothers Bank.
