Article about the provision of home economics education in the Kansas City School District, the Manual Training High School (opened in 1897), Kansas City Junior College ("founded in 1915"), the Jane Hayes Gates Institute ("a trade school for girls"), and the University of Kansas City ("opened in September 1933"). Description of the early "all-round training" for "the motor-minded," etc., starting more with the educational programs for black people and girls and becoming more wide-spread during the Great Depression.
