Description
Article on former director of social services for Children's Mercy Hospital, Alice Kitchen. Kitchen began volunteering at the Guadalupe Center in the 1950s as a teenager, and the experience prompted her to pursue a career in social work. She spent 20 years at Children's Mercy raising funds and organizing programs to assist both children and their parents. Since retiring in 2009, Kitchen has made two human rights observation trips to Honduras as a member of an international activist organization.
