Brief history of school desegregation legislation back to the Civil War and description of the historic monument at the "Monroe Elementary School, the black school at the center of the Supreme Court's ruling" in Topeka. Linda Brown attended Monroe Elementary, three miles from her home, and wished to enroll at Sumner Elementary, Topeka, KS.
