Story of Quantrill's raid on Lawrence in 1863. Includes a typescript of a letter addressed to Bro. & Sister, dated Oct. 6th, 1863, and believed to have been written by Mrs. H.D. Fisher or Mrs. Hugh Fisher. Letter recalls the happenings relating to her family on the day of the raid. Article also includes Mr. or Rev. H.D. Fisher's account of the day as found in the pamphlet The Lawrence Massacre By a Band of Missouri Ruffians Under Quantrill, August 21, 1863; 150 Men Killed, Eighty Women Made Widows and 250 Children Made Orphans, published in 1884.
