Illustrated caricature and caption about August Meyer (1851-1905), a retired Kansas City businessman and former "president of the Kansas City Park Board." Native of Saint Louis coming to Kansas City in 1881 and becoming owner of "an enormous smelting business" after becoming wealthy in Colorado (Leadville) gold mining and later leading the establishment of Kansas City's park and boulevard system.
