Photo and article about the reminiscences of Adelbert Haines, or A. S. Haines, the first secretary of the Kansas City Board of Trade, written in 1906 and starting in 1848 at the Shawnee Mills in Kansas. Description of his life and career, born in Ohio in 1843 and coming to Kansas City as an adult in 1868 and residing "on Grand avenue, between Eighth and Ninth streets," becoming a grain merchant at the foot of Grand Avenue, moving in 1873 "to 411 Delaware street," then to 112 West 4th Street.
