Biographical article about Frances M. Lipscomb Hickman, or Frances Hickman "of Independence," granddaughter of John Harris (of the Harris House hotel in Westport). Born "a mile south of Dallas, Missouri," in 1847 and growing up in Civil War Westport with her uncles Charles Kearney and William Bernard before marrying William Hickman, "the son of Edwin A. Hickman, who established the mill known as Hickman's Mill."
