Dr. J. Arthur Hibbler's "reputation as a surgeon extended beyond the Greater Kansas City community. In 1944, he was asked by Dr. DeKoven French of Muskogee, Okla., to come to that city to perform several operations. Dr. French was a general practitioner and the town had no Negro surgeon."
