Photo and bio of Patrick Shannon (1824-1871), mayor of Kansas City in 1864-1865. Native of Ireland emigrating to Kansas City in 1855 with his brothers as proteges of Father Bernard Donnelly and dry goods merchants with "a store at the northeast corner of Main and Front Streets known as J. & P. Shannon." Also Confederate officer in the Civil War with residence at 2nd and Walnut Streets.
