This article explores the unique relationship between the town of Atchison, Kansas and the Mormon immigrants, who for a short while in 1855, camped just outside of town in Mormon Grove. The Mormon settlers worked in the town and made the money they needed to head to Utah and the town of Atchison found the labor they needed to build up the community at a crucial point in its history.
