Article examines the documentation of Seaman (Meriwether Lewis' Newfoundland dog) in the journals of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. It is believed that Seaman accompanied the Corps of Discovery from its departure to its return, and died of grief on Meriwether Lewis' grave.
