One paragraph on page 174 about Caroline Amanda Smart Graves, or Caroline Graves, as a student at the Catholic rectory school of Father Benedict Roux in Kansas City in 1836 and daughter of Thomas Smart. Also on page 177 a mention of her as a student at the Conger school "on a high hill near the present site of Seventh and Walnut streets" in the early 1850s, "taught by a man named Conger."
