Description
In the column "Castle's View," the author remembers his fascination with Olympic Stadium and stock car racing. The stadium was located on the north side of Truman Road, just west of where I-435 would be built in the 1970s. Today the site is occupied primarily by U-Wrench-It Auto Parts. According to the article, Olympic Stadium opened in 1937 and closed in 1974. The Cotton Club was a beer garden at the track. Article includes names of drivers as well as three pictures which include one of the track, one of Sammy Callahan and his car, as well as one of Larry Dady in his car at Riverside Stadium.
