Description
On Thursday, October 20, 2005, an 18-foot-tall, 3,000 pound sculpture by Michael Rees will be unveiled in downtown Kansas City. It is called "Putto 2x2x4" and is part of his "monster series". It is located in a small plaza west of the Folly Theater on 12th Street between Broadway and Central and is part of the public art pieces acquired by the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art. Rees is a native of Kansas City now living in New Jersey. The piece "was constructed from a steel frame coated with expanded polystyrene foam and LuminOre iron on fiberglass". A video screen is located with the piece and plays a 1 minute and 48 second sequence.
