Obituary for Hilton Smith, Sr. (ca. 1912-1983), a former Negro Leagues pitcher and teammate of Satchel Paige on the Kansas City Monarchs baseball team. Native of Texas coming to Kansas City from 1933 to 1948 as a pitcher and "foreman for Armco Inc. for 30 years until he retired in 1978," residing near Satchel Paige at 4342 Bellefontaine Avenue.
