Born in Chicago in 1873 and raised in Kansas City, publishing the magazines known as "The Passing Show," "Poster Lore," and "the 'Lotus'" before joining the Kansas City Star staff in 1893 and managing the Orpheum Theater and Willis Wood Theater in 1901-1902.
