Photos and information on John Moore (1840-1917), Kansas City's 25th mayor in 1885. Description of his life and career as a native of Tennessee coming to Kansas City at the age of 18 "as freighter on wagon trains headed west" and later becoming founder of "the Moore Grain and Elevator Company" at 19th and Walnut Streets. Also a Union soldier in the Civil War until converting to the Confederacy in 1865 in Kansas City.
