Originating about 1914 and housed in its first building in Kansas City in 1917 at 3123 Troost Avenue before having its own building erected in 1922 at Wayne and Linwood Boulevards, joining the Resident Theater and a branch of the Kansas City Public Library there before having a new building constructed at 82nd and Holmes Roads (voted by Esquire magazine "the outstanding health facility in Kansas City" in 1974).
