Portion of two-part article on connections between Germans and ragtime music, discusses the mysterious conservatory student "Marie X" who played the banjo for Johannes Brahms at a party in Leipzig in 1895. The author suggests that she might have been Marie Worth of Kansas City, a former student of Sallie Busch, the wife of conductor Carl Busch. Frau Busch also studied at the Leipzig Conservatory.
