Sports writer Jason Whitlock writes in his regular sports commentary column about local boxing promoter Bubble Klice who died November 18, 2006, at the age of 98. The article states that Klice "was one of the biggest black men of his time. Throughout the '40s, '50s and '60s, Klice powered Kansas City's Golden Gloves teams, traveled to Moscow with a team of U.S. fighters in 1970 and ran the Gateway Athletic Association". Services were held on November 25, 2006, at Watkins Brothers Memorial Chapel with buriel in Forest Hill Cemetery.
