Butch Rigby has decided to use a red art deco look for the interior of his Screenland Armour Theater which he is renovating at a cost of $1.4 million. The theater is located at 408 Armour Road in North Kansas City. When finished, hopefully by May 22, 2007, the theater will specialize in commercial art films. Rigby paid $600,000 for the 79-year-old single screen theater which over the years has been called the Centre and Paradise theaters as well as the Northland Opry. "The Screenland Armour will have 250 to 300 seats. Plans call for it to show films mostly on weekends (the same policy in effect at the Screenland Crossroads); on weekdays the facility will be available for special events, banquets, corporate meetings and live performances." While doing the renovation, a group of 50-year-old wallets were found inside a wall. Supposedly former theater employees stripped them of cash and threw them behind the wall.
