Footage of a documentary film chronicling the rebirth of downtown, initiated by officials at the Kansas City Area Development Council, was shown at the Screenland Theatre May 2. The film, ''Mending the Heart of an American City,'' is being produced by Inland Sea, an award-winning local film company. In addition, a 24-page advertising spread about the Kansas City region will be published in the May 16 issue of Fortune magazine.
