Photo and bio of Vassie James Ward Hill, or Vassie Hill (1875-1954), founder of the "Country Day School for boys and Sunset Hill School for girls," introducing "progressive and experimental ideas in education in Kansas City." Description of her life and career as a native Kansas Citian, marrying Hugh Ward "son of Indian trader and trapper Seth Ward" and taking control of "the Ward Investment Company" after his death in 1909 and developing "the Sunset Hill area, a portion of the original Bent-Ward property," with the Country Day School (later Pembroke Hill Country Day School) built there in 1910 and the Sunset Hill School in 1913.
